The Woodcote Pre-school Inclusivity Fund was set up in April 2004. The fund aims to:
All three year olds in Oxfordshire are currently entitled to five free sessions a week for 11 weeks of each term. 2½ year olds may occasionally receive help from the Early Years Support Scheme, but only in exceptional circumstances. We feel, that all children should have the opportunity to attend pre-school, whatever their circumstances.
The Fund allows us to provide up to two free sessions a week to two year olds whose families receive Income Support or Income Based Job-seeker's Allowance. Sessions are allocated at our discretion. E.g. fewer sessions may be allocated if demand is high. This is only a summary of the rules of the Fund, full details of which are available on request.
Pre-school is FUN! Children learn to play together in a calm and structured environment. It aids their development, both socially and educationally and teaches them that adults can be a source of both friendship and discipline. Pre-school offers activities that children might not otherwise enjoy, such as gardening, baking and developing computer skills. Woodcote Pre-school is at the heart of village life and both children and their families feel part of their community.
Would you like to try and find a job, but are worried about the cost of child care? Do you feel unqualified or lack confidence? Pre-school for your child might give you the chance to retrain or go for a part-time job. Did you know that if you work less than 16 hours a week you may still be able to claim income support and keep the first £20 of your wages? The Citizens' Advice Bureau can offer free advice. If you can get a job for at least 16 hours a week, you can apply for Working Tax Credit, which gives you a weekly payment and help towards your childcare costs.
Telephone the Pre-school on 01491 682300 (mornings and 24-hour answer machine) or 07894 980469 (afternoons), or pop in during opening hours.
