On 10th December we staged our Christmas play. As usual, we aimed for originality and seasonality. This year the play,"The Jolly Christmas Postman", was specially written by Sharron Rook, our Pre-school Leader, and Chris Bernard, our Plus 4s supervisor. As always, the emphasis was very much on relaxed fun, with the children being encouraged to explore their talents, but with minimal rehearsals. In fact, we were so laid back that we began to think that the play would be an enjoyable disaster! As it turned out, the children rose to the occasion magnificently. It seems we have a couple of unsuspected show-offs in our ranks!
The full script of the play is set out below. In brief, Joe the Postman, visited various places of interest around Woodcote, in keeping with the Pre-school's tradition of enjoying the 'great outdoors'. These included the school, the library, the doctors' and Somerfield, at which point the children gave a stirring rendition of "Five Mince Pies in a Somerfield Shop". Joe also delivered a catalogue, containing seeds for our allotment, to the garden centre. There was much singing and laughter, plus a lot of "aahing" from mums and dads as their little ones came on, one dressed as a fairy, another as the Rev. Nelva Moss and others as Mary & Joseph, gardeners and choristers etc.

Several children then eagerly grabbed the mic and volunteered to give eye-wateringly cute solos of various songs, including Baa Baa Black Sheep, Row Row Row Your Boat and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, whilst others wished everyone a happy Christmas.
A Christmas tree, kindly donated by Chris and Tanya Goodman, was then auctioned for a truly bargain price.
