There was something fishy going on at Woodcote Pre-school on October 16th, courtesy of Tim Lobb of Brookleas Fish Farm, East Hendred.
This term the children have been investigating the topic of agriculture. Having already harvested box-loads of potatoes, beetroot and beans from their organic allotment as part of the market gardening topic, they then moved on to consider fish farming.
The children had great fun laughing at Tim's enormous green waders, then watched in awe as Charlie, a huge crayfish, crawled across the village hall floor wielding a pencil. Then the children went outside to see rainbow trout of all sizes leaping about in nets and buckets.
The pre-school holds regular 'animal' half-hours, normally on the second Thursday of each month. Any child, whether or not enrolled at the pre-school, is welcome to go along. For information, visit www.woodcote.org
